Are 852 products made in the USA?
Yes. They are all made by hand, by me, right here in the USA.
Is the lead time really 4-8 weeks?
Yes. 852 bags are fully customizable by you, the customer. Therefore, they are not sitting on a shelf with a barcode in a port in some seaside warehouse.
Each bag is made by hand by me alone. The leather is hand selected, rigorously inspected, then cut, sewn, and built by hand to your specific requirements and hardware selection.
Do you accept returns?
Sorry, because all items are custom made, there are no returns.
There are a lot of different colors, is your leather real?
Many of 852's leathers are small batch sourced, with colors that cannot be found in big brand stores.
Will my bag be perfect?
"perfect" is a very subjective word. Will 852 build your bag to the best of our ability and give you the best product we possibly can? Yes!
That said, the great majority of our leathers are "full grain genuine leather". Sometimes full grain hides will have natural markings. I do my best to cut around these and can almost always place them on the underside or inside pockets so they are out of sight.
Many of the big brands have moved to "top grain" leather where the outer portion of the hide is sanded and buffed. This helps them avoid this hand selection process and makes mass production easier for them. but with top grain you lose strength, pliabilaity, natural aging.
